Managing Miscellania in RuneScape 3: Easy Weekly Resources Most Players Forget

Hello, RuneScapians. 👋

If you’ve ever found yourself short on herbs, logs, or just random skilling supplies, there’s a system you might already have unlocked — but maybe aren’t using consistently.

Managing Miscellania is one of those quiet, long-term account boosters. It’s not flashy. It’s not high XP per hour. But it gives you steady, reliable resources every single week.

And once it’s set up, it only takes a couple minutes to maintain.

Let’s walk through how it works and how I personally use it.

What Is Managing Miscellania?

Managing Miscellania is a repeatable reward where you run a small island kingdom that gathers resources for you while you’re off doing other things.

To unlock it, you’ll need to complete:

Once that’s done, you can:

  • Fund your kingdom with coins
  • Assign workers to gather resources
  • Collect the rewards whenever you’re ready

I unlocked this years ago — and I still use it.

How It Actually Works

Here’s the simple version:

  1. Put coins in the coffer (this pays your workers).
  2. Assign your workers to gather specific resources.
  3. Keep your approval rating at 100%.
  4. Collect your materials.

That’s it.

You can choose from things like:

  • Herbs
  • Regular logs
  • Teak & mahogany
  • Flax
  • Coal
  • Fish
  • Seeds

Personally, I focus on herbs and hardwood, but you can adjust based on what your account needs.

The Most Important Part: 100% Approval

Before you collect anything, check your approval rating.

If it’s not at 100%, you are not getting the maximum amount of resources.

It’s super easy to fix — and it only takes a minute or two.

How I Raise Approval (The Fast Way)

I keep this simple.

1. Rake the Herb Patch

Right outside the castle, rake weeds.
Your approval goes up immediately.

Bonus: The weeds go into your inventory and can be disassembled for Invention. Don’t throw them away.

2. Chop the Maple Tree

Also nearby.
Chopping increases approval, but the logs don’t go into your inventory — they contribute directly to the kingdom.

Between those two activities, you’ll hit 100% very quickly.

And when you try to keep going, your subjects will literally tell you to stop helping. That’s how you know you’re done. 😄

Teleporting There Quickly

I personally use a Luck of the Dwarves ring and teleport straight to Miscellania.

It drops you right in the throne room.

There are other ways to get there, but this keeps it fast and easy once a week.

Collecting Your Resources (Important Tip)

When you’re at 100% approval:

  1. Talk to Advisor Grim
  2. Click “Collect”
  3. Choose Bank All

Always use Bank All.

Do not use “Abandon All.”
And don’t “Take All” unless your inventory has open slots and you’re prepared.

Banking sends everything safely to your bank.

Depending on how long you’ve waited, you can easily collect several million gold worth of materials.

How Often Should You Collect?

You don’t have to collect weekly.

Resources stack up over time.

But approval slowly drops, so I recommend pairing this with something you already do weekly — like Clan Citadel or another reset.

For me, it’s just part of my rhythm now.

A couple minutes. Done.

Is Managing Miscellania Worth Unlocking?

Yes.

You’re not getting XP directly.

But you are getting:

  • Passive skilling supplies
  • Materials you can sell
  • Long-term account efficiency

Over months (and years), that adds up.

It’s one of those systems that rewards consistency — and those are my favorite kinds.

FAQ – Managing Miscellania (RS3)

How do I unlock Managing Miscellania in RuneScape 3?

You must complete the quests The Fremennik Trials and Throne of Miscellania. After that, you can fund and manage the kingdom.

Does approval rating really matter?

Yes. Your approval rating directly affects how many resources you receive. Always bring it to 100% before collecting for maximum rewards.

How long can I leave resources uncollected?

Resources accumulate over time, and you don’t have to collect weekly. However, approval rating decreases gradually, and your coffer must have enough coins to keep workers paid.

What is the best resource to assign workers to?

It depends on your goals. Many players focus on herbs and hardwood for long-term value, but you can adjust based on what your account needs.

Is Managing Miscellania good for making money?

It can be. While it’s not active money-making, the materials you collect can be sold on the Grand Exchange or used for skilling, saving you money in the long run.

Final Thoughts

Managing Miscellania isn’t exciting content.

But it’s reliable.

It’s one of those small systems that quietly strengthens your account over time — and those systems matter.

If you haven’t unlocked it yet, it’s worth doing the quests.

If you’ve unlocked it and forgotten about it… maybe this is your reminder. 😉
